My Favourite Piece of Technology

I hope you're all doing great! Today we're going to write about our favourite piece of technology.

You must say:

What it is.
When you got it.
How you use it.
How often you use it.
Why you like it.
What life would be like without it.

- 140 words minimum.
- Include a picture.
- Comment on your teacher's post and 3 of your classmates’ blogs.
______________________________________________________________________________

Here is my post:

I'm not a big fan of technology, but of course I can't live without it. I am very dependant on the microwave, I spend most of my time working on my computer, and I can’t live without my cell phone.

But when I really think about it, my favourite piece of technology is the Kobo e-reader. Kobo is a brand of an electronic book reader, just like Kindle, and I got it as a birthday gift about 6 years ago from my sister. You can download e-books from the internet, either on EPUB or PDF formats at a much cheaper price than paper books, but most of the time I find and download the e-books I want for free. It not only saves me a lot of money, but I can also take it with me everywhere I go because it is light and small and fits in my purse. I often use it in the metro or bus when I travel to work. And it’s also special because the screen doesn’t shine like a computer’s screen so it doesn’t make your eyes tired after reading.

I have to say that I still enjoy reading paper books, but when I know I can find the book I want for free, I use my Kobo. Sadly, in Chile books are too expensive so it’s hard to get all the books you want. If I didn’t have my Kobo, I wouldn’t be able to access many books. Another important thing is that an electronic book reader is good for the environment because it saves trees from being cut for paper production. Therefore, my Kobo reader has been a really good gift for me and the environment!

Your Career Choice

Post 2 (week 4)

Hello everyone!
For today's blog post, we're going to answer the following question:

Why did you choose this career or study programme?

You must write about:

- your dream jobs when you were a child
- other career options that you had at the moment of applying to university
- what made you decide in the end
- your experience at university until now
- the kind of job you would like to have

- Write a minimum of 130 words
-Don't forget to leave comments on 3 of your classmates' posts and on your teacher's post as well.

As an example, you can read my post here:

Since I was a child, I always wanted to be an artist. I dreamed of being an ice skater and going to the Olympics. I also thought of becoming a film director, but I thought that to produce a film you need too many resources. For some time, I considered becoming a ballet dancer, but I thought I would never want to be on a diet. In the end, I decided to study Visual Arts because I love painting. I also realized I like teaching and wanted to work with children in a school. Therefore, I studied Teaching as well. When I finished my studies, I got a job teaching children English in a school and then, I taught adults in an institute. Today, I have two jobs: I work as an English teacher and continue to develop my painting work. One of my dream jobs is to get a job as a teacher in a country in Africa and in another country in the Middle East, because I would really like to explore those regions and their different cultures.

My Autobiography

Hi everyone!

Welcome to the English blog! In our first blog session, you have to write a short autobiography.

Here is an example of my autobiography:

I was born in Santiago, Chile, and I'm the oldest of three sisters. My father was born in Santiago, but my mother is from a small town in Belgium.

Since I was a very young child, I wanted to be an artist. I learned how to draw by myself. I graduated from the Santiago College school, and studied Visual Arts in Universidad Finis Terrae, where I learned how to paint, draw, make sculptures and printing techniques. Then, in 2006 I obtained my Teaching Degree in Universidad Católica.

After I graduated, I worked in different jobs. I did English-Spanish translations for a long time and taught Art and English lessons in two schools, Nuestra Señora de Andacollo and Nuestra Señora del Pilar. In 2007, I started teaching English to adults in an institute in Santiago, called BridgeEnglish.

Today, I continue to paint in an art studio with a group of artists. I also have a special interest in Arabic culture because my father’s family is originally from Palestine. I like to cook palestinian food and listen to arabic music. I love reading books about history, politics, art, novels and poetry, and I speak basic Arabic, too.

Now it's your turn! You have to write your autobiography. Remember to include:

- Birth information

- Studies info (elementary/high school/ university)
- Family Info
- Hobbies
- Others...

> Number of words: 120 (minimum)

> Make comments on three of your classmates’ posts and also leave a comment on the teacher’s post.
